Default Gear review: 3.73s

Well guys got the car back and got a chance to drive it w/ the new 3.73s installed. Let me tell ya...it really woke the car up. Like Teej said...i get NO traction what so ever in 1st and most of 2nd and they're new tires lol. But its a FUN drive haha just a whole new feeling.

Now the bad: There's a slight drone when i let off the gas...when the car is just coasting. But when i push in the clutch or hit the gas again the whine goes away. I figured there'd be some noise since the gears are used (like 1000 miles)...but idk the car still runs great.

ALSO: when im coming up to a stoplight and begin to down shift...as i come into 2nd and 1st gear a sort of "grind/humm" comes up and i can feel it in my shifter its like it doesn't want to really get into gear almost? Idk it goes and once its in its great. But its just at low speeds...anyone know what this means???

Over all im very please...i get to 6500 REALLY quick now haha.

Imagine what you really should have right now...4.10's! lol But higher numerically gears usually make more noise than lower. And you have to relearn where to downshift at mph wise. You now have steeper gears so you need to downshift at a lower speed. One thing I can suggest is rev matching when slowing down. You really should do that anyways. Makes it less stressful on the trans anyways. Glad you like the 3.73's man! Go rape some rice! BTW, with the thread naming cars getting me thinking, I think your car should be named Olga...its a girl, but its so muscular that it deserves a name no less than Olga.

Teej I've never heard that higher numerical gears are louder... How does that make sense

if your gears make any noise then they weren't installed properly. Take your car back to the shop so they can align the gears correctly. I had 4.10s in my car with no noise.

I could see slightly more "noise" due to less/bigger teeth on the pinion. But any grinding noise or a "knock" on/off power would be from a bad mesh.

See it was wierd cuz he said he's never had gears line up this good on the first go around. He said he thinks they make some noise cuz they're used. So idk maybe when i get my rear end re-built ill just get a new set of 3.73s. Cuz i mean like Mustang_NTriangle ive heard of ppl getting gears and it making no noise at all...so idk...i almost figured it came w/ the territory.

And thanks teej...i kinda like the name..she does deserve a beastly name. And yes parts are only being bought once now haha. No 4.10's
