yea, i must agree , SLP doesnt sound too great with an aftermarket H or X pipe (or in my case a 3"-2.5" Y-pipe downpipe)

i'd trade my SLP's if i could get em off, damn guy that put em on for me when i first got car welded the bastards in!!!

but its all personal preference i suppose

Used to have that exact same combo it was too loud for me. I put my catted h pipe back on and ran a consitant 1/10th faster in the 1/8th mile. My car needed the back pressure. More often than not those impressive hp gains are on highly modified and tuned cars where the "tested" product is the weak link

yea i totally agree with the back pressure thing, even with the turbo, if i accel hard, then left off the gas, the exhaust burbles (almost like its got a ridiculous cam in it) hard. it might also be because of the tune, but that'll be changing soon as im about to go with a megasquirt...

anyone runnin SLP Powerflo's? its either those or magnapacks i suppose for me. think i could just cut out the welded in SLP LM1's and mig weld (yes i have one) in the mufflers?

oh, and sorry for the threadjack lol.

If you lived in King you'd be ok, but it sounds way too raspy I prefer the rumble of slowmasters but it really doesn't matter cause it's your coin. What part of NC are you from?

It's a little loud, but I don't go WOT, its a daily. It sounds great at about..2k rpms, before it gets raspy. And I'm from Shelby, but I'm in Charlotte right now at UNCC...Cops everywhere...haha. But I keep it down.

And the camera man was my 14 yr old bro...using my phone...Lol. I guess he didn't know where the camera was cause he kept sticking his fingers in the way..

I had upr x with the LM1s and is soon as I did my long tube installed it got rid of most of the rasp at high RPM and WOT and sounds a million times better.

That's just what my '03 sounded like when I got it; with an o/r H-pipe and Flowmaster 40s.

It sounded great at idle and very light load, but under even normal acceleration it was TFL for me--advertising something that an otherwise stock GT was incapable of delivering...

I think the sound would clean up a bit if you put some hi flow cats on it. With the added back pressure of the cats you may notice it accel a bit quicker to. I ran that slp lm1 on the ss and as soon as i put the flows back on i noticed the loss of power i had with th slp as soon as i got on the gas. Felt very sluggish with no back pressure felt alot better with a chambered muffler.
