Default Super pissed

OK, so today when I was taking my friend home from hanging out I got lucky and a C5 vette pulled up next to me wanting to race. We started from around 40MPH and I started in 2nd gear and pulled on him a tiny bit, but once I tried to shift third was "blocked out."
I already knew that my transmission was having problems and that I couldn't hit third at high RPM's, but I had just kind of forgot about it. I have posted a thread about this when I first noticed it and most of the replies said it was the syncros.
So what I am asking is what would be better for the money to do, and how much would it cost?
Get a t56, fix this one, or find another 5spd.
Here is the original thread that I posted so I dont have to go into detail about the problem.

how many miles are on your car? (and with the blower)

how much will it cost to fix? have you gotten a quote? I would try to find a used 5-speed and switch it out.

I hear you gotta do a lot of extra to get the t-56 working like wiring harness and you even need a custom sized drive shaft I think. (might mean stock cobra drive shaft, but then again we don't have IRS so it might be a weird size)

Haha I dont know how much it would cost to fix, that was part of my question. and the car has about 98,000 miles and the blower has maybe 500-1000 on it.

I would start off by calling shops that are around you and ask them if they even have the ability to fix your syncros, and if so, how much they will charge you.

Once you do that, I would start looking at replacing the transmission with a used one from somewhere.

if that doesnt work, spend about $3k on a t56 swap

do you have an aftermarket quadrant? my stocker liked to flex during hard driving and made it difficult to get into gear.

Damn man...id call around to shops...idk if it's worth the trouble to fix the 5speed. But you never know!

You better still go to the cruise in on the 23rd damnit!

its actually a pretty common problem with this transmission, mine does it too. just don't try to slam it into third and you'll be fine, almost like your shifting around town but a little quicker.
