Default 5.4 build has begun!!!

I bought an engine off of craigslist yesterday, a 5.4 out of a truck that had a rod bearing go out and was knocking. I really only wanted the block to eventually piece together into a pretty stout street engine. Ended up with a complete long block from the guy( whole engine less the intake and oil pan) for $75. I will part out the rest of the engine for whatever I can get for the heads and maybe the crank if it is in good shape.

Next step will be to find a bottom end or some 4V heads

Noice! If you're going to go 4v... you should seriously look into the boss intake setup from Australia. It's really the only way to go if you're not into the sheet metal intake scene.

There is a guy on another forum selling the intake setup as a kit. It's a little spendy, but had I gone 4v (like I should) I would have been all over this.

I agree! There was a guy over on modularfords.com that put in a stock 04 Navi motor (32v 5.4L) with Cobra manifolds and the Boss intake and made like 325/370 without touching the cams, head or block.

Well unfortunately it's going to be a pretty slow process as $$$$ allows. The plan is eventually about an 800 HP setup on boost. Sorry to get everyone excited for nothing, just excited on buying the motor for $75 as a start to the long term goal. I am putting on upper and lower control arms, tb reinforcements, and strange 10 ways tomorrow and hoping to get to the track Sunday.

Baby steps! As long as the steps are in the right direction, that's all that counts! Best of luck on this project Jay-rod.
