To bad it couldn't wait till next fall. I would have just built a new motor. Now I'm going to be to gun-shy to want to do any major work to the truck.

I guess I get to put on that free set of shorty headers now. :0) No way in the world I would have done the labor for 10-15hp but since I'm pulling the heads I might as well now.
Are you going to drop the engine out from under, or are you going to leave it in the truck?

I'm going to sit my fat butt in the engine bay like a monkey and do it in the truck. I don't have a Garage here in Virginia nor do I have a hoist anymore so I'll be being doing it the old fashioned way with everything in the way.

I hoping my uppity neighbors don't report me.

you do realize there is no front subframe.... Just a big frame with a few crossovers welded in. Out the top is the only way

There are a bunch of pictures online that show people with Lifts, disconnecting the motor & Cab. Then using the lift to pick the cab right up off the frame allowing access to the motor.

I guess it's the easiest way to do it. Provided you have a lift of course.
