Default How do you guys race your cars?

I am thinking about giving it a shot and running my car on friday just to see what it will do. It is one of the last days that the track is opened and i figured if i only ran it 3 or 4 times it shouldn't break it. But what i am asking is i have a automatic how do i launch it? i was planning on staging and holding the brakes and holding the rpms at like 1k and when the light turns green go, but does anyone recommend spinning you tires to warm them up if they are just street tires? anyone recommend running through the water or avoiding it? And any advice to keep things from breaking things? And any advice to give me a decent run for the mods in my sig?

you never listed your tires, and thats the most important thing. i'm ASSUMING your on streets. in which case, the water box is pointless, and heating your tires is pointless. if anything, just a quick spin to sling the dirt off.

you have an automatic, there is no rocket science involved with this. go out, make a run or 2, and check your 60 foot times and see how bad your spinning. if your not spinning at all, launch a little harder. if your spinning too much, dont launch as hard.

Put your foot on the brake, and press the gas...then let go of the brake to go.

The wonders of an automatic.

sums it up in a nutshell ^. just go out and have fun is the main thing. you will be surprised how well you will improve by doing that

Apart from what has already been said, if you wanna get alittle involved to make it more worth your while, remove your front sway bar, and spare tire and jack from the trunk. Also air up your front tires to a higher PSI...

At a few tracks you cant avoid the wet box. Do a quick burnout after the bow 3+seconds maybe to clean and dry the tires you will hear the squeal when they are dry then stage it hold the brake get it up to around 1500rpm and when you see the 3rd yellow let off the brake after that it all depends on your car bc mine kicks to the side a bit going into 2nd gear. And you dont have to worry about all the missed shifts and going into the wrong gear and losing like I see the few guys that bring a 5speed to the track do that argument is retarded but ppl will always fuss about it. you see what most of drag cars are ---auto so launch that thing and stay consistent and if the next guy feels best bc he gets to play with a stick while racing str8 line then so be it.
