...if anyone out there has taken a ohv or push rod engine and put it in a "new edge" or 99-04 mustang? if so how did you like the swap and how hard was it?

It depends on the engine. I know ZW99GT put a carbed 408 in his, 99BlackPony put a 460 in his. They both went carbed though. If you want to stay fuel injected, it gets more complicated.

yeah i was thinking it would get a little hectic but i was thinking that i could just take the harness and ecu out of a 5.0 and put it in the new car. i think that would be a whole lot of work though

You'll need a K member out of a 94-95 5.0 or a tubular one that will mount a 5.0. I would also recommend snagging a computer and harnesses out of them if your going to stay with fuel injection.

yeah thats what i was thinking i would have to do as far as the computer. what engines do you think will mount up to the 94-95 k member? i was looking at some of the late model resto engines and i was curious if they would fit in there? i know i might have to do some work on the motor mounts but i didnt know if that was it or if i was opening a can of worms

Really any ford pushrod V8 will work with them. This is an expensive swap overall and most end up starting but never finishing. Good luck if this is the path your choosing.

My question is why are you thinking about this?

I can't really see doing it unless it's just one of those things you're doing to say you did it. I would put an LSX motor in if that's the case, since it'll **** off both Ford and Chevy guys.

But otherwise, you can make power with the 4.6, just not as easily as with other motors.

Parts might be cheaper for a pushrod, but the cost of doing the swap initially may even it out.

Believe me, I like pushrod motors over OHC, but I wouldn't bother with the swap unless I had a bunch of extra money to **** away and to do it for the "because I can" factor.

If you want a pushrod motor your best bet is to sell your car and buy a car with a pushrod motor, like a fox body, 94-95 GT, or an F body.

One thing to consider is putting an older motor into a newer car is usually illegal to do if it's going to be a street car.

he had a serious lack of planning with that build. he ended up running out of money quick and was "forced" to sell it off. lol
