Default Random topic of 12/10/10: Are our fog lights even useful??

So, in continuation to make topics to make this section somewhat active, let's talk about foglights on the 94-04 GT's.f363503

Is it just me, or are my foglights COMPLETELY useless. I sometimes just turn them on by themselves without the main headlights, and I don't even know that they're on. I remember back in 2005 I had a friend with a 96-98 GT and they're fog lights didn't do anything either. Are they there for decoration? Or are they actually useful and I just effed something up, to which they're not that bright?

Having not driven threw fog, i dont see them useful. I can tell there on when driving down dark roads. I plan on putting colored bulb to match some led accent lighting when i get there.

Well their placement recessed into the bumper like they are isnt ideal. And it sounds to me like you need new foglights. My old GT bumper fog lights sucked bawls. I have now new OEM Ford cobra foglights in my 03 cobra bumper on my GT and they are definitely bright. OEM tends to be brighter than aftermarket as well. For the last year, I ran around with the new foglights and stock headlights that had 120k miles on them and you could hardly tell a difference when the headlights were on thats how bright the fogs are. Now i have new OEM ford headlight buckets and now they are both equally bright. Time for some HID's!

With HID's my fogs do a better job of lighting the road up then the head lights.

Stupid question, but where is the button to turn on the fogs? I mean I have pushed every button on the dash to turn them on, but they never do. I know they are probably broken, but I just wanna know where the darn button is.

If you have a 2001, look under your radio. It's the button all the way to the right, I believe.
