Default Alternator 130amp or 110- does it matter, which brand to buy

Hello MF- I've looked through the previous posts about alternators and it seems that a new one is much better than a remanufactured one. My question is, does it matter if it's 110 or 130amps? My car is an 02 GT with no mods except a rousch air intake and exhaust. It does have the Mach 1000 stereo, though, so I thought maybe it needs the extra amp?

Problem I've had is car has run badly and died a couple times- typical alternator symptoms (with the heat, radio, lights on, the power will cut, the lights dim, the battery gage goes to -). Battery is only 2 yrs old, car has 111k on it, original alternator. Strange thing is if it sits for a couple hours it'll crank again, though weakly. I thought the battery would stay drained...

It's also hard to tell which alternator to buy- Motorcraft at Ford is $240 but that's about the same price as an Autozone or Advanced piece. Usually you can save some money at Autozone. Is the Ford Motorcraft a better one to go with? Any advice is much appreciated.

If the car is stock it doesn't matter, the OEM GT generator is 110A.

If you can get a Motorcraft replacement for $240 then go with it...

autozone has a lifetime warrenty on parts...which will be good because it will need to be replaced every 6 months

does ford offer a 130 amp? (Id think one from an f150 would be the same?) if so i would all ways recomend getting it but its not needed, just make sure its a motorcraft

Great- thanks for the info. I'll just stick with Motorcraft and the 110amp. Keep it simple.

I have a 200 amp alt from Wrangler and has been fantastic for many years. One actually blew up, due to defect and hooked me up with a new one for a great price as it was well out of warranty.
