Yeah, as far as pure dollar per hp when it comes to mods, it's hard to beat an extra 70 cubic inches of displacement.

But total horsepower and torque is just one piece of the equation. As far as I'm concerned, the cars that contain LS motors (save the vette) leave a lot to be desired when it comes to anything other than the motor. Just my opinion.

I could care less about the number of hp a particular car makes because I see guys with gobs of horsepower get their asses handed to them at the track all the time by cars with less.

I appreciate all the feedback...I kinda hoped the Mustang was nicer, my 98 Trans Am was not the most comfortable ride.....but from a 60 roll with longtubes, intake, and a tune it was a goddamned freight train.

I do agree, it seems a well setup 99-04 GT could beat a TA/Z28 with a lesser suspension and tires.

decisions, decisions......

Get a new edge, drop a ls1 in it with a viper spec t56 and a Ford 9in in the back!

A cheaper way is Gears, Nitrous, good tires and most important.... suspension. Oh it also depends on who is the better driver. When I had my 04 GT (3.73's,K&N,Nitto 555's and weight reduction) I was roll racing my cousin in his 98 LS1 Camaro (Full exhaust,CAI and good year f1's from a vette), We would start from 30MPH and I was neck/neck with him until we got around the 60's but he only pulled by a car length. BTW I love Trans AM's and Vette's, I just don't cradle the LS sac.

Def been around both...if you wanna go fast quicker...get the LS1. Me and my dad have H/C/I cars of each (he's the T/A im the Mustang) the numbers speak for themselves. And his car is SEXY as well. With some gears/ drs he'd be LOW 11s easy.

I kinda like bein the underdog and everyone in my town has LSx stuff...im def the only H/C/I mustang around here for sure. Sure they dog on me...but idc...it's my car and i love it. The mustang looks kicka**, sounds kicka**, and is no slouch. My car stands out just as much as any f-body.

Mmancp, when are you going to get that intake elbow and get your car tuned up to 7,000 so we can see what that car really puts down?

FI would likely be the best option. Even my super light GTS with the 4V engine would get eaten alive by an LS1 car. I could toast LT1's, even hung with a 2010 SS camaro auto, but the LS1 is mighty.

If you want to run with LS1s you need full bolt ons + cams, FI, or spray. Bolt on for Bolt on the GT will loose every time.
