Cool 1999 ignition coil -parts store incorrect database

Went to autozone to get a new coil for 1999 4.6l gt. Had wrong coil in their system. Looked under 1998, 2000, 2001. Still couldn't find it in system. Remembered that recall for air intake covered 1999 mustang and mercury sable. Looked under 1999 mercury sable and found right part...: lucky, saved me a trip to the dealer.

Cliff, the part you show will fit the 2pin connector but has a rubber boot and spring that is not at the proper angle and is 2 inches longer than the stock part. It also has NO mounting hole for the screw. If you need an ignition coil, just be sure to check your part. If you can't find the right one. Search for the 1999 mercury sable 4.6 litre.

You are correct, I did not pay that much attention to the photo--playing with their site I find you have to go up to 2001 to get the correct part.

4.6 liter sable huh? This is why I laugh at auto parts stores.

I think are entitled to make an error every now and then, as I did earlier in this thread--when you consider that they list, and can supply, millions of parts for many different brands they do a pretty damned good job.

Take a walk in their shoes before you start throwing stones...
