Talking looking into getting some LTs

i have an 03 GT with stock headers an off road x pipe and magnaflow mufflers and have been wanting to get a set of LTs (i know i will have to change the mid pipe). i was wondering if buying a set of eBay long tubes would be the same as going out and buying a set of BBK non-coated long tubes. ceramic coated is better but this is not a track car its my DD and i just wanted something for that little increase in HP and a better sound.

Thanks

dont buy that ebay crap. headers are too much of a PITA to install to buy those no-name ebay brands imported from china. macs are good and not terribly expensive...good budget headers. or you can shop for some used ones.

dont buy BBK either. I love mine (bbk ceramic) but you CANNOT work on the transmission without removing the long tubes first (if you are not familer with this process.... it is a bitch) The more expensive brands like Kooks (I think at least) actually allow room for the removal on the transmission.

Yeah, i'd stay away from that ebay stuff. Stick with a reputable brand.

mac lt's should allow transmission drop too with the lt's on still. I have Mac Lt's and their O/R H. I would stay away from the chromed mac lt's as they just pealed moments after the car was started... i recoated them with high temp paint and they have gave me zero problems since I installed them two years ago.

back in the day my dad wrapped the headders of his vette with some kind of insulation (what looked like what you wrap around a large wound or something similar, this was probably 12 years ago... so my memory could be off a little)

has any body heard of or done this with their exhaust manifolds before to try to lower the temp of their engine compartment? that said it wouldn't matter what material the pipe is, because it would be covered.
