Mustang GT w/ Boltons vs. VW gti turbo (tune)
hey guys my friends been talking ish latley on the stang. he has a VW GTI i think its the 1.8 turbo model. he has a upgraded BOV and a tune that "upped his boost to 22lbs" its just a tune. hes also got full coilovers and the thing is slammed, also has catback performance exhaust. thats all he has of what i know.
my car is a 1999 Mustang GT with full exhaust, short headers, o/r x pipe, flows, MAC CAI, FRPP clutch, 93 Octane AM Bama tune, and a Hurst STS. he thinks he will pull a car length or two on me. he claims 260 or 280 rwhp, i think stock he said around 200hp (60-80hp from a tune?!) so do yall think ill beat him? from a dig? rolling? what speed should we roll from if we do race (track)..? thanks guys!

LOL... dont be surprised if you lose. The 1.8T cars get a LOT from just a basic tune. If its the 2.0T and he has a tune it will be even closer.
Also, if its a 2.0T with the DSG he has launch control so he will likely beat you off the line from a dig(cheater mods lol)
If hes pushing 22lbs its a good match for a gt sadly. The stock KO3 turbo CAN handle 22psi and the tunes usually up them to that. The fact that he has an aftermarket blow off valve suggests he also running more PSI because the stock diverter valves usually fail after 15psi.
I think he will get you to be honest.

damn man i really wanna beat this kid, hes my friend and all but ya know i gotta top him. im really thinking of doing a zex kit or something soon, 100 shot should get him right?

oh yea ull have him easy with nitrous. That car is just plain lighter than urs also.. so that doesnt help.

Race him first n/a (let him get all excited that he beat you) then on nitrous and get the last laugh lol.

I think the opposite. I raced one with a "stage 2" upgrade when I had my old car with te exact same mods you had and I put 2-3 on him from 30-90. I was auto but I did have 4:10 gears and longtubes.

A friend of mine has an 08 GTI with the 2.0T, its stock and its decent at lower speeds but once you get to highway speeds and up its not that quick. I have heard from him though that you can pick up a lot of power with just a tune and a downpipe so I think he'll give you a good run. I think you still might get him up top though.
