I guess it depends on how the car is setup. I'd like to find out one day.

I agree with these guys above. I've driven a 550 HP Mustang that was perfectly steetable. Then again I drove a 500 HP supra, that would break loose if I tried to pass a car at 80 MPH (it had a th400 tranny). So it depends on the set-up.

Personally, I wouldn't want more the 600-ish HP in a street driven car, let alone a daily driver (400 max for DD). That's just more trouble than I would like to get into, and a waste of the car.

But for a weekend warrior? Sure 600-ish max.

Lol, there is a difference between a street car, and a car you can drive on the street. 2000 horsepower is ridiculous, and impractical for the street.

a wise man once said, " you can never have enough horsepower, just not enough traction."

See there is a discrepancy here.

Define 'streetcar'.

What does it matter if you're driving a 1992 civic w/ 98 horsepower, a gsxr 750 w/ 170 horsepower, or a street legal twin turbocharged big block le' mans tune to 1000hp?

It's only going to go as fast as you tell it to.

I vote no limit.

Think about it, accidents happen all the time.

Imagine your foot slips on a 1000 hp car compared to a 98 hp car. On the highway? You're gonna go sideways! Let alone a sudden rainstorm, or a sticking pedal. A fuel shortage? Race cars break more often then a daily driver, if both are maintained the same. I just think the collateral damage, and reliability are a big issue if you're running a 1000 hp car.

Clutch wear, tire wear, transmission, etc. Let alone gas price for a 1000 HP car. Most of those won't run on pump gas, nor get 15 mpg?
