I know there are plenty running 4.10's in the 12's. Trevor did it with pretty much the same mods and a lot of weight reduction on 6er wheels with et streets and 6er wheels up front. Op is doing it with shot 555r's on 17x10.5 03 cobra wheels.

I'm not arguing that people do it with 4.10's as it's apparent. But for someone to get this deep into the 12's with just drag radials(555r's at that) is pretty notable. Kmelfi did those times some time ago and I never really thought about it before, but with running 3.73's, it seems like they actually put you more of where you want to be through the traps and I'd bet you can launch them pretty hard too.

Not arguing that 4.10's aren't awesome, as they make the car more fun to drive. Just saying 3.73's probably deserve more of a look for a stock longblock car for drag racing than a lot of people ever think about giving them.

Dump those heavy azz wheels and go with a 15" Weld

I kinda hope there's some truth to this, cuz that means the 275/60's I'll be running this year will put me right around where I wanna be, gear wise. Also, I know Ci's best run is about a tenth faster than kmelf's pass in the 12's was, but what's really impressive is I believe he did it with either stock exhaust manifolds or shorties. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't running long tubes.

Also keep in mind, guys, both of these runs were made at atco. K's was made in december I believe, Ci in early march. I just put new coils and plugs in, and definitely noticed a difference. I think I may have had a weak plug. If not for that, I would've been in that range back in November. The fact is, you can't get much better conditions for a track than you usually do at atco, especially when you get cool whether like this.

Kmelfi's run I'm pretty sure was a 12.82...but I think as well that it was with stock manifolds.

Gearing is only as good at it's match to the car they are in. For car "A", a 4.30 might be the ticket, where as car "B" might pull down the best times running 3.27 gears.

Anyone who thinks a certain ratio is the 'end all' of gearing needs to go back to racing 101.

I thought it was a 12.87. Either way, still very impressive and shows just what you can do with the right suspension and tires on these cars.

If the motor begins to nose over at 5300rpms, 3.90 gears might be the ticket instead of 4.10's. The torque multiplication of gears is worth a lot in accelleration! 3.73's are probably not the "best" for a full bolt-on car.

I have bolt-ons plus a pair of cams in stock heads. My cams let me pull hard to low 6000rpms, so the 4.10 are good for me (12.5@110mph). I could see 3.90's being better for bolt-ons and stock cams. I'd be surprised if any bolt-on NA cars run quicker times because of 3.73 gears vs 3.90. Torque is critical for accelleration.

I'd love to see some before and after timeslips with 3.73, 3.90, 4.10...

You might have a point there. Back when i was just full bolt ons, i would always beat my buddy's gt who had the same full bolt on mods (even the same custom dyno tune) but had 4.10's compared to my 3.90's. Even from a roll we were dead even till 3rd gear, and then i would slightly pull him every time. We even dynoed within 5 hp of each other on the same dyno lol.

I don't think people realize that atco and cecil are pretty much guaranteed to deliver 2 tenths faster than the average track at this power level. Which is one reason why everyone always posts awesome times at those two tracks.
