Default Trouble

I have a whining noise coming from my belt on the front of the engine. Shop said the battery was so dead that it was causing the alternator to whine... So I replaced the battery and it still whines...

They also said the tensioner pulley was going out so I swapped that out and to no avail it still whines... To me it honestly sounds like I have a supercharger under the hood (I wish). I do think it has to do with the battery bc that last time it whined the battery light came on...

Has anyone had this happen before??

Has anyone heard of anything like this before??

Sure sounds the way you discribe it a alternator going bad..bearing in alt maybe.
Get the alt tested before you spend more cash..its free at most auto parts places.

The alt can still charge with a bad bearing in it.
They just start making noises wich is annoying.

Take belt off and try spinning alt it with your hand and see if you hear noise.

Do you have A/C ? could also be the clutch on the A/C pump making the noise.

Check all the idle pullies too while your there, I have one sqealing on my GT as we speak. If you have A/C I believe there are 3 idler pullies .
