Default Methanol on NA Car

I have been looking into putting a Methanol kit on my car and am curious how many of you have actually used methanol on a NA car and what your experience with it is. I realize that the gains power wise will be nothing like that of a force induction car. I am really after the mileage benifits more than power benifits. My current engine mods include LT headers, catless h pipe and 2 1/2 catback, CAI, UDP, 24# injectors, Trickflow intake and TB, Accel coilpacks and wires, NGK G-Power Plugs, Custom Tunes by VMP tuning. This is my DD so I am looking for ways to get better mileage out of it without back off of my current power output. Thanks in advance for input.

That's a good question. If i had to guess i would think there wouldn't be much of a benefit with your listed mods, but i don't really know for sure.

I've discussed this before and unless you're running lots of compression or boost, you don't really get the benefit of it. I mean you might get some mpg out of it, but enough to benefit buying the kit, then filling it with methanol over and over again, it's kinda pointless. Only application for meth in my opinion is performance.

The point of running a set up like that is to cool a heated incoming air temp after it's heated from a supercharger or turbo. You don't have to worry about that, so there is no point.

Anything you would save in MPG your going to pay for with refilling the tank every other day. There is no point to doing this. The best MPG mod is your foot.

Alright thanks for the input. Even when using methanol based windshield fluid there is no MPG benefit?

The only benefit is lowering the intake temp and being able to get more aggressive with the tune. Like said, you really need either fi or high compression for this to really matter.

I see the idea behind this kit, as far as using it for MPG anyways. Instead of using more gas when you put the throttle down, it uses a mix of meth to maintain the proper a/f ratio for the situation, so you dont use as much fuel. But the idea of using an alcohol-type fuel to do this is not smart, as alcohol based fuels are oxygenated and use more fuel to maintain the correct a/f ratio. Plus with windsheild washer fluid(methanol based) is like $3/gal anyways. You might try though using E85 in this type of kit to see how that might work. Just an idea.
