^+1,

Here is a great Headers 101 white paper from S&S Headers--it was grabbed from their website before the economy took them down early last year. They had been around since 1968 and were one of the most respected makers of high-performance headers.

When i did long tubes i immediately noticed a deeper exhaust note that was a bit more mellow at idle, but significantly louder at WOT. It also seemed to rev a bit more freely than before as well.

All of what you guys are saying sounds good. I've hit a rut tho. My mechanic flat out said no to installing them and there's nowhere else around that'll do them. How much time would it take for me to get these in and what is needed?

You gotta drop the K member down or pull the motor out. Your gonna need some new manifold to head gaskets, and hopefully your head studs/bolts arent too rusted and broken that they come out in 1 piece

Sounds like a huge time consuming task

Smart man, he knows that he can't charge enough and you wouldn't pay enough to make it worth his while. With a lift it's not a trivial task, without a lift it's a real PITA.

I helped my brother install a set on his '99--in his garage with the car up on some 10 ton jack stands set as high as they could go--it took us about 8 hours all together (I.e. subtracting food and beer breaks_.

I wouldn't help him do it again (well I probably would, but there's no amount of money anyone else would be willing to pay that would be enough)...

Lol well this is a turd in the punch bowl. I think it would be wise for me to pass on these then and do a different mod to my car with the money. I really wanted some longtubes on my car.

It can be done by regular humans, heck a couple of geezers like my brother and I did it (he's 59, I've got 4-1/2 years on him), but it is not a good place to start learning to turn wrenches...
