i know a guy with a 98 Cobra who is making 380 rwhp with a 5.3 mod motor, 9.5 comp and ported heads with turbo cams.

Still didn't reach the magic number and that's a 4v anyway. I'll bet money the same engine with a stock stroke would make nearly the same numbers.

The reason why it would make more power than normal is the boss block the stroker was in. Unshrouding the valves would be more beneficial than stroking it. And I've seen a lot more power from n/a 4v's. A lot more.

Great motor. My ideal motor is a boss block with a destroker crank and a whipple 2.9.

Op, you said you want to autox. Weight is your enemy. Do the alum. 4.6, make your own custom intake for it and headers since you said you like making custom parts. I don't understand why there is any discussion here on if he should build a huge engine that weighs a ton and could possibly make huge numbers when he only wants to make his car dance around cones like jazzer. I see no problem with you getting very close to "the magic number" staying n/a with what mods you plan on doing.

Capable of much higher RPM, and more power can be made because of the ability to rev high. Especially if I'm going to go positive displacement blower. Nail the gas you have instant boost so you dont need to worry about lag and no power down low. Plus higher RPM engines usually tend to shine on road courses which is where I want to run this car.

To be honest, stock stroke crank is all I'll probably ever run, but I would like to run a destroker to run a little bit less stroke to make it a little less stressful under boost. And the destroker with a big bore boss block would yield a 289, and I've always loved the 289 motors from the 60's.

good logic but the thing that limits the RPMs is mainly the valve system.

Well I'm not too worried about it for now. lol That build is far enough away yet. But when the time comes, I dont think I'll be too worried either. Its gonna have all the stops pulled.
