You may have to get down in there and slit the boot, I have done this by grinding a hack saw blade into a long taper with a sharpened, pointed edge--hold it with vise grips, or a hacksaw blade holder:

Slit the boot on opposite sides and then use the fish hook pliers...

well, it seems I'm not the only one to have had this trouble at least... I was thinking that after one week I managed to screw up my "new" car and I was the only one stupid enough to do this!

It not your fault, the car is 11 years old--beyond this you need to steel yourself for more "old car syndrome" issues down the road (no pun intended).

Trust me I know, when I was younger I was the king of old car syndrome! At least now when my older car isn't working I can just drive my Ranger in. Darn car needs a throwout bearing too. I'm debating on replacing the clutch too...

Whenever my '03 GT needs something, like the recent intake manifold coolant leak, SWMBO get's on my case. I tell her it's because it's a "junk car"; an 8-year old American car with 115k on it..

Thats great! I just wish I could have driven it for a while before all this started... My own fault I wanted another car so I could learn to fix 'em myself!
