Default COP Boot Problem

Hi, everyone, I'm new here and I have a problem. I tried searching everywhere for the answer. I was just changing the spark plugs on my new 2000 GT and one of the COP boots was so stuck that it ripped in half when I was pulling on it. Anyone have any tips on how to get the rest of it out?

i'd use needle nose pliers or a screw driver or something to free it up from the head. then just pull it out. you can get new boots from any auto store.

I tried both of those, that sucker is really stuck! I borrowed a bunch of different types of forceps from my father, I'm hoping one of them will fit down in there and grab it. Is there any type of wd40 or something that would be safe to try and lubricate it?

did the metal coil come out with the COP? Get a long pick down there and work your way around the edges inside where the plug is and outside the bore in the head, should be able to wiggle it out with pliers after that

Maybe one of these will work to hook boot and pull up.
Pick tools come very handy when I turn wrenches

No only used at the dentist

It never would have crossed my mind to use a fish hook remover for that! Great idea! Thanks everyone for the suggestion.

It has only failed me once--I caught a 4+ foot alligator gar at Disney's Fort Wilderness, he had taken a smallish spoon down his gullet more than 10", I tried to get it out but gave up after getting my hand all cut up.

This is not mine, but it gives you an idea of what the ugly SOBs look like:

The damned things grow to 6-8 feet long, the record is 9' 6"; 329lbs!
