Default Best way to remove GT and FORD emblems on trunk lid?

Im planning to paint my trunk lid between the lights tomorrow an Im going to have to remove the emblems, would love to reuse them, but I know the tape on the back is probably going to stick to the paint and release from the emblem?

Any tips or tricks?

Heat and fishing line. Take your time, it'll come off. The ford emblem has, I think, two prongs that go into the body. I've never taken one off, but I've read if you use a flat head screw driver, you can get it out pretty easily.

Try searching around, this has been discussed more than once.

+1 to what was said above. Any sticky residue left behind can be removed easily (and is safe to the clearcoat) with Naptha, available at any hardware store.

Ill shoot some in the morning. I got em off, used some 800 grit wet pad to clean where they were, masked off the back and wiped it down with a lint free rag and some alcohol.

Shot a coat of black and it looks 95% perfect, for some reason one spot has a few tiny bubbles in it. Got to make the decision to live with it, or try and fix satin black paint..

I put the Ford emblem back on, left the other 2 off for now...it looks clean.
