Default New clutch!

FINALLY! I finally put an order for a new clutch. For those that do not know, about a year ago, my TOB went out. I kinda cheaped out and bought a ram hdx clutch. It wasn't a bad one but my dumb *** noob self didn't let it break in. The first day that I got my car home I just jumped on it and went WOT a couple of times. Little did I know, I ruined my clutch instantly. $700, down the drain! So, not too long ago I drove my friends 2000 GT that had a custom clutch built to handle 800hp, the thing was soooooooo smooooth. I finally bit the Bullitt and put an order in for my new clutch. Fffffing stoked about it. Ya, there's my stoked rant about it. Just be happy for me lol
Thissss isssss crassssh annnnnndd my clutttchhhhh willlllll finalllllly beeeeee fiiiiixeddd!

I have never been on a dyno, I'm not sure what she's making. Ford rated her at 275hp from the factory at the crank. RWHP......maybe like 240 ish, I dunno. I have a gutted cat bassani mid pipe, borla stingers, and aluminum d/s for power mods. It's a custom clutch that will be built for me. A racing shop is doing it. A lot of my buddies that hang out at our local car meet have it. It's a stout clutch. Eventually this car will be making some serious power. Once I find out the specs I'll let you guys know. The cost is right about the same if I bought a CF dfx and labor.

I don't understand why people buy clutches that are rated stronger than their transmissions.

dur, so the car can hook up for a few seconds before it rips a gear off either the main shaft or counter shaft

Hmm good question, here's an answer, I don't have the funds to do everything at once. It's not like I'm a dumbass and wouldn't build that up too. Its just a peice to a puzzle. And yes, I will have fun with my clutch. /thread

He said that was a year ago when he wasn't as knowledgeable.

Crash, I'm siding with wannabe on this one. Clutch, rated for 800hp(more than likely like 600tq would be a good guess as that's what makes clutches go out). Stock 10 spline input shaft, rated at like 400, if that. That'd be one of the first things I did to my car but you have to completely redo the trans to install one. Transmission internals, rated to like 365lb ft torque. So when you ever race the car and that clutch grabs hard, tires stick well, say bye bye input shaft and trans internals, or whichever goes first. I don't want to be a downer or anything, but you purchased the wrong clutch. If anything you want to pick a clutch that will actually be the weak link in the system because I think you'd rather replace a clutch than an entire transmission.

I know many people didn't like him and called most of his claims bs, but Ox when his car wasn't a race car he was running a spec stage 1 clutch making 700rwhp.

You don't want too much clutch for any application...and you just bought way to much clutch for your car my friend.

Sorry.
