Fuel gauge is off not accurate
Something weird is going on. Essentially, my fuel gauge reads E when I have about 3-4 gallons left and when I fill up from E it only fills about $35 versus the usual $45 and the gauge reads 3/4 full when I have a full tank.
What could it be?

How many gallons does it take to fill it from "E"? How many $$ it takes means nothing the way gas prices are bouncing around...

I didn't even check how many gallons it took. Filling up is second nature now and I kind of just fill up and go. Gas here hasn't flucuatied much at all. The next time the needle hits E, I will check how many gallons it took to fill up.
Gas here is about 3.69. It cost me about $35 to fill up. So therefore it ends up being roughly 9.5 gallons versus the usual 12-13 gallons.

Use the HEC self-diagnostic to view the fuel level digitally on the odometer. If it does not reasonably track the gauge display then the gauge or needle placement are bad. If the digital display does track with the gauge than the sender is bad.
There is very little that could have changed the tank's capacity...
