4.6 BUILD
can anyone guide me to a good 4.6 build. i'm buying a late 90's cobra mustang this friday and iv been looking for a build all morning and not finding anything other then switching it to a carb build and swapping out for pi heads and getting a *cough wimpy* 370hp. please tell me these motor can do more. any help or a point in the right direction would be great. i have a 600hp camaro and id like this mustang to rival it.

Forged internals, headwork, cams, a blower and supporting mods. You will be able to destroy your Camaro.
The mod motors N/A are turds without spending some serious money on them.
Go online and buy Sean Hyland Motorsports How to max build a 4.6. The info is great, but I have heard from a lot of people not to actually buy anything from them. I believe he also has a rebuild book for the 4.6/5.4.

wannabegear head no i didnt say i wanted to swap out for pi heads. i was referencing a build i seen. i know nothing about the 4.6 motor yet. iv only built chevies, so i'm trying to get some info on what i can do to this 4.6 motor. the mustang is a 98 i think. im just a little discouraged with what iv found so far on this motor. sounds like a slow motor but like i said iv never had one or driven one. the only build iv found so far was 370hp which just doesnt sound like much at all for about 4k that they spent on it.
jayrod, thanks for the input. seems like i'm going to have to spend a pretty big chunk of $ to get the mustang to perform like the camaro does. i have about $4500 into my camaro motor. again guys i'm not bashing mustang or the 4.6 i'm trying to get educated on it.
thanks

i dont want to turn this in to a debate over my camaro lolol but its basically a 475 sbc with a 100hp shot of nitrous. so its a little under 600hp but 475hp out of a sbc is pretty easy. it smokes my buddies 351 windsor mustang. but i know the 88 mustang i had a few years ago with the gt 40 stuff on it was wicked fast and i know it wasnt 575hp. but being lighter and the way the car was set up... i think it would have beat my current camaro. my camaro is not a monster but my point was id like the mustang to be just as fast.

If you actually have a 98 cobra... it already has a forged crank good for well over 600hp, throw in some forged rods($300-$500), some forged pistons($650-$750), blower cams($1,500 for 4v), and add on some extra for machining, gaskets, crank rod and head studs, all the extra crap to rebuild, slap together a $3,000 used intercooled blower kit and you should be able to make over 600hp no problem, but i doubt it will come in under $4,500.
