I'll vote BFG. They will be physically wider than the Toyo at the same claimed size, have good tread life (for what they are) and will do ok in less than perfect sunny dry days for you.

The toyos are total garbage plain and simple, I have them on my car now they dont hook and they dont soften or heat well, just total garbage.

Uber, what other dr's have you ran before? My buddy has the Toyo's, and loves them. He had Nitto 555R's before that.

It seems like the general consensus (from my buddy and general research) is that they're basically a lot more like a 555R than other dr's. Just tad more sticky, and noticeably wider.

That's what I've heard also Rod. I think Uber just needs a driver mod.

There are a few guys locally who are running BFG DRs and they like them. Unfortunately, they don't DD their Mustangs so I can't comment on tread life.

I'm a little confused here..

You're complaining about traction.. You want good tread wear... WHAT?!?!?

If you want DR's get the m/ts.. All the others (bfg, toyo, nitto, etc) are all sticky street tires that wear out.

The real way to gain traction is to increase sidewall. All 17" street "DRs" are going to hook about the same, maybe with a little bit of difference. Sidewall is the biggest factor in traction.

Killjoy, i'm not really complaining about anything. All i'm saying is that it's time for the Nitto's to go, and i want something a little wider (like a real 315 this time) and has a decent tread life for a dr. The MT's seem to be a little more aggressive than what i need. I'm looking for a good compromise basically.

I've looked at the M&H dr's as well, but i'm not wanting to change the height either. I would imagine they hook great though with the taller side wall.

From what i can tell the BFG's look to be the perfect compromise for someone like me. I'm still not ruling out the Toyo's though.

BTW, do any of you know if they still make the old style BFG dr? The tread was really cool looking...kind of like a lizard scale look if you know what i mean. All the ones i'm seeing now look way different. More like a traditional tread pattern.

The style you're looking for is only in the larger sizes like 18"+ wheel diameter.
