I would take a 5.0 auto over any other mustang out right now. Even over the boss just because I wouldn't want the manual trans. I mean come on guys, a mustang gt that can get 500whp with bolt ons, stage 1 cams and lightly ported heads? Thats awesome!!!
Some of us, when driving our cars, make turns...

Owning a sports car/muscle car/whatever you want to call it, that is auto just doesn't make sense. If I'm buying a car like that, I'm buying it for the driving experience. To me, half the experience is shifting the gears and having a manual transmission.

I am going to suggest that if you have a pro driving both cars stock the gt may just not embarrass

Why is the GT500 being considered slower than the 5.0 Mustang? Sorry I am a newbie, but I always figure it's 5.4L 500+ hp supercharged motor would put it at the head of the mustang pack?

majority of us aren't pro drivers so if an every day guy cant pull off the times no point in using those times for comparison. the gt500 is no doubt faster, but with an auto gt you can go full throttle outta the gate, gt500 you'll have to peddle it and try your best not to make a smoke show, so by the time you get done with that work the gt will most likely have a couple cars and the gt500 prolly wont be able to catch up by the end of the track. I'm just saying my opinion is auto beats manual for what i would use it for. also like stated i dont want to worry about that cheap *** mt82 trans.

Its called "different strokes" and some ppl like the way the auto shines on the drag, and some ppl just cant drive a stick. Example I learned how to drive a stick when I was 14 years old. 16 years ago but I cant drive a stick now for different reasons and i love driving my auto.

i have my reasons for trading my turbo V6 for the GT i have now. 1 being the auto since my knee is destroyed. 2 is the aftermarket. almost at the power of the V6 with bolt-ons and no tune.

exactly, i can drive a stick just fine, just cant shift it fast. and since i dont ever see myself doing autocross or anythign like that, i wanted the auto.

I have an auto 12 GT. coming from a 5-speed stick 03 GT.

I DON'T MISS MY 03 GT AT ALL!!!

And I really thought I would. But I dOnt. And I thought I'd hate the auto... But this automatic is Sweeeeet. I kinda miss shifting, but tbh, shifting is such a novelty thing for me. I pondered with the 03 cobra route. But the 2011/12 GT is just a better CAR in general and overall than the new edge. Though the new edge is a sexy car and I will always love the look, sit in a new GT and a 2000-2004 model. Difference is night and day.

Get the 5.0. And don't be scared to buy the automatic version. It kicks ***.

It's not slower than the 5.0. It's still faster and still a better platform. However, the 5.0 is only a few tenths slower than the GT500. I think THAT'S where people are making the comparison. With a BAMA Tune, CAI and exhaust, the 5.0 can pick up 30-40 rwhp.
