Default mach 460 options

2000 Gt. Stock speakers and system, pioneer DEH-3300UB headunit. Sounds like I have 2 speakers blown, driver front and driver back. What are my options? Should I just replace with stock speakers? Would it be worth the trouble to pull out the stock junk and replace with aftermarket speakers? Im not sure how my car is wired, but heres a few pics.

Your options are going to either be to scrap the whole 460 unit, and use a 4 channel and run aftermarket speakers or replace the blown speakers with factory units.

The mach system is a nightmare to try to add to..

The sub drivers(bottom doors, and rear shelf) are at 6 ohms, and door tweeters are 2 ohm..(up by the mirrors on the doors, and there is I believe 2 in the back in with the drivers on the shelf) to find 6 ohm speakers, well its impossible unless you use factory mach speakers.

So either ditch the entire 460 unit and run new speaker wire and use aftermarket deck power, or a 4 channel amp.

OR just replace with factory units, and live with it..

The tweeters are run off the stock unit, or any head unit thats added, and the sub drivers are run off the two amps in the back, under the speaker shelf..

That makes sense. So im just looking at new speakers and speaker wire if I ditch the 460 junk? Sounds like a plan.

and than wire it to the deck for LF + & - RF + & - LR + &- RR + & - so you'll have to replace all 4 speakers.

Won't need a new amp if he's just going to run 4 speakers.

if he replaces the bottom door speakers (6x8's) and the same kind in the rear, he WILL need a new amp, because of the mid-to-low pass filter for those speakers (most replacement door speakers are made for mid only). also, as mentioned previously, those are 6ohm speakers, most replacements will be 2-4ohms. unless you find that specific replacement, which will not be easy, or cheap, you will need a new amp. or you could ignore my warnings and not do further research and just go ahead and replace them, and then you will have real sh*tty audio quality, but hey, as roush said, it will work, just not well

If he runs them off deck power, it would be like a normal set up, just leave the factory tweeters there and hooked to nothing, or put in a set of components, and use a set of crossovers.. but in a component application, higher power is better.

the deck power only runs the door and rear deck "tweeters" (which are not really tweeters, they play mid-to-high, not just high). if he replaces the door and rear "speakers," they will be forced to run off the two rear amps (since thats how they are wired from the factory), which, as i stated earlier, do not run the same filter traditional amps do. but hey, if you want to sacrifice audio quality tremendously, be my guest. there are tons of posts on these forums about people who made that mistake, so please don't just take my word for it. research it yourself

edit: just read your post earlier. i suppose you could rewire them to run off the main amp, but why would you?? now you're splitting power between eight speakers rather than four. once again, i'm pretty sure your audio quality will suffer (but will definitely sound much clearer than if using the two rear amps on traditional 5x7's or 6x8's)
