Just changed out the current fluid (looked like RP) to Mobil1 ATF, what a pleasant difference. This is also comparing very used fluid to new, so the RP may work just as well.

Couple benefits I saw (some may be in my mind, or helped by simultaneous oil change):
- RPMs seemed to be lower by ~5% (could be from decrease in transmission friction?)
- Downshifting/engine braking RPMs do not raise up as high and/or are quieter
- MUCH smoother shifting & no "notch" right before it engages into the gear.

The first 2 better be 'in your mind' because if your RPMs are different then that means something along the lines of your clutch is on its way out. In a correctly working system, the engine RPM is directly related to the wheel speed.

I think it is simply the placebo effect.

Wouldn't be surprised. I didn't write down the original RPMs so I'll never know!
