Default BAMA tuner, or other type of tune?

I am currently saving up some cash to get a tuner. I was going to get the BAMA tuner from American Muscle because the whole "tunes for life" looks pretty nice. I am just wondering if this is a good tuner and worth the money.

My other options would be to get a local tune from a shop and be done with it, or some other type of tuner. I just need a tune to get the most out of the new PI engine in my car, it still has some quirks that I believe a tune would fix (such as an occasional 'misfire' or lope when idling).

And while I am making a new thread, might as well post this. It's a video of my old exhaust vs. the new Magnaflows.

Thanks,

well if you take it to a shop youre gonna have to have a handheld for them to store your stock tune, although it probably isnt needed it would still be nice to have in case. I say just buy the AM tuner

Buy the tuner by itself, then take it to your local tuner. That way when you get the dyno tune you dont have to pay for the handheld there. They want you to buy one to store the stock tune and the dyno anyway, may as well get it from AM.

The Bama tunes and other email tunes are not going to eek out that last .5 hp. they are better than stock, but are still pretty conservative to cover their a$$3$.

Alright based on what you guys said I think the AM tuner is the way to go for me. I'm not trying to race the car so I don't need every little bit of horsepower I can get. The email tunes will probably be fine for my needs, and I can't afford both the tuner and a dyno tune. Thanks for the help.

So do you think they will be able to write a proper tune even though it has a PI engine swap?

DutchManDann, Our Bama Tuning Specialist will get you completely squared away if you end up choosing AM for your Custom tune. Being a PI engine won't cause any issues as long as it's listed on the aftermarket parts form that you will fill out prior to getting setup with a Bama Custom tune! If you have any additional tuning questions you can call our Bama Team directly @ 888.226.9764 where someone can walk you through the steps if you so choose!

Or PM me if there's anything I can do to help out, I'd be glad to!

@OP I would get the SCT from AM.

You will need it if you decide to dyno tune at a shop to save your written tunes if you go that route.

PS...OP PM Chris Rose at Bama tuning on this forum he will answer any questions you may have. His customer service is A++++.

I placed the order yesterday, filling out the aftermarket parts I have on the car. Nothing mind-blowing. I have a catless H-pipe with magnaflow catbacks, and a K&N drop in filter. Then I have the PI Engine swap.

I got an email today telling me that my car cannot be tuned with a mail tune, and that I would have to go and get it dynoed.

I am honestly disappointed, I asked both on this forum and on the AM facebook page and both responses didn't see any possible issues that could occur with the mail order tunes.
