I'm not the best at explaining it but I did just have a 3800 installed last year in my 96. A torque converter is the automatics clutch basically. Whatever stall you end up getting for your car, your RPM's do exactly that, they stall and will hold at a certain RPM where your car makes its most power. Our transmissions LOVE high stall. Do NOT go lower than 3500 or you will not be that happy. Like I said I have a 3800 and love it. You slam on the gas and the RPM's stay around 3800 since most of my power is around that range. Watch a few videos on youtube and you will see cars take off and the RPM's will stop and stay for a few seconds before rising again. A very good mod but it must be tuned right after.

It's a torque multiplier. It takes the engine torque and multiplies it at the transmission. Higher stall allows you to foot brake to a higher rpm and saves weight over stock.

That makes sense, because I was looking into it, but was unsure on how exactly it worked... I think I understand it a bit better

Definitely worth the price. One of my favorite mods. Don't cheap out though.

Gears, stall and a sticky tire really makes a huge diference with autos
