Default CEL clearing/reset possible???????

hello

I have a CEL (Check Engine Light) present in my 03 Lincoln Aviator, BUT I am about to trade it in. Is there ANYWAY to clear out the CEL for a decent period of time so that they dont notice it and actually diagnose it???

I already know why the CEL is on..and I'll just say thats its going to cost a pretty penny to fix.

what's it on for? that will effect how long it stays off for. to clear it just unhook the battery for 5-15 minutes.

Cylinder 7 Misfire. Already had the Plugs and Coil replaced but its still on. After a compression test cylinder 7 is reading 70 PSI...basically needto take apart engine head and get new cylinder valves and etc... yeappp costly especially on labor.

Is there anyway to fool the PCM that cylinder 7 is ok? lol I just need to be able to drive this thing about an hour or so to the dealership and have them look at it without the darn CEL being on so they can give me a good trade in value..

not really, stop next door to the dealer and unhook the battery. at my dealer all they do on trade ins is give it a quick once over and drive it around the building, so you might be ok.

One cylinder down to 70 psi is going to be pretty noticeable. Also if they do put a scan tool on it the I/M monitors will all be incomplete which may be a warning flag. They may not notice any of the above but be prepared.

One last issue, they can come back at you if the trade-in is misrepresented so it boils down to:

Do you feel lucky today?

BTW, if you were looking to screw over anyone but a car dealer I'd be questioning your moral character--but as they have none it's OK
