Question high mileage 4.6 questions??

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about buying a true 40yr 04 mustang gt. Now the car itself is in very and I do mean very good condition, no dents, no scratches except some small rock chips up front, no interior damage, leather is in very good shape, does have a few stress marks but not ripped in any way..

Ok so here's the current mileage on the car 152,000 and I'm going to give them 2500$$ down on the car which will drop the car down to less than 6000$$. My payments will only be 230$$ a month and this car will be my dd and will pretty much be driven around town and onthe high ways but not long distances.

Now my thing is I really don't know a lot about the 4.6 platform at all due to me coming from the foxbody platform. My thing is my 5.0 when I sold it had 365,000 miles on the body and over 150,000 miles on the built 306. Now I don't plan on driving this stang like I stole it. But will afr aluminum heads a cam, intake and some other goodies help that engine last longer?? Anyone's input will be most helpfull. Oo I will be taking the car to car x and have them run codes and check the car over.. thanks all for reading my very long post..

If you do end up wanting to buy it, do take it to a shop to have them check it over. Honestly it's all about chance/luck what ever you believe in, I'm sure there are Mustangs with over 200k on the motor and runs fine. Mine had 124k and it gave me $7,200 in repair costs and I still have a couple thousand more on things I know I need to replace.

Thats too much money. I paid $7500 for one with 106k miles on it and it was in amazing shape. Then sold it and bought an 03 for $9000 with 85k miles also in amazing condition.

My odometer stopped at 149K in 2009. Previous owner was averaging 7K a year before that, so I have roughly 170K on mine and you would never guess it. It's by far the nicest mustang I have had.

I paid $7500 for a '00 with 52k miles. Sounds like your price may be too high.

My car has 87,xxx and it just blew the motor (this car was maintained like crazyyyy all it's life, garage kept the works) and looks like it has 20k miles. Head gasket blew that lead to all my coolant in the oil pan, which then spun a bearing. Long story short I think you're over paying for a car with 150k on it.
