Hmm.... I'm not 100% sure that this is true. My 2001 GT has factory stock Bullitt wheels and I'm fairly sure it came that way from Ford. Also, if you do a Google image search for "2001 Mustang GT" .... about 80% of the ones with factory-style wheels (as opposed to obvious aftermarkets) are Bullitts.... Other wheels may have been possible, but the Bullitts are by far the most common on 2001's. As stock as my car was, I find it tough to believe that they wheels were swapped and I've known the car since 2002 when it belonged to a co-worker of mine.

I went back and looked through all the factory literature I have and can find no mention of them as being available on anything but the Bullitt in 2001--however the
Mustang Field Guide Mustang Field Guide
(a great little book by Brad Bowling, 2005) does state that they were made part of the GT Premium package in later 2001 production--due to buyer demand.

What is the production date on your 2001? I'd like to make note of it in my files...

My old 01 GT also has them, I can get the date on it if my sister doesn't drive it tomorrow.

Cool...

It seems to be something they decided to do after the brochures were printed, they get printed up well ahead of the vehicles making it to the dealers.

I have a 2002 Focus/Mustang/ZX2 brochure with a photo of the Trade Center towers on the cover:

Sure, here's the sticker inside the door jam.... Anything else you can tell me from this? Any idea what the sharpie writing is on there?

02/01 means it is mid/later production, also it:
 • has active safety belts and 2G air bags;
 • is a GT Coupe;
 • has the 4.6L, EFI (SOHC);
 • was assembled in Dearborn, MI;
 • was the 64,138th MY 2001 Mustang
 • is/was Mineral Gray;
 • has ABS and t/c;
 • has leather/vinyl interior in Midnight Black;
 • has the CDX6+, AM/FM stereo with 6-disc compact disc (CD) changer;
 • has 3.27:1 traction-lock rear end;
 • has 4R70W automatic transmission;
 • has RGF/FAR front/rear springs;
 • "1" = 2001;
 • "ZE" = Mustang;
 • "1" = automatic transmission (all of which we already knew);

Don't know what the "sharpie" stuff is???

If those are the wheels, IIRC the lighter color was only used on bullitts/01s and early 02's

I've never been able to figure out what GWVR and GAWR means. I looked up the weight of our cars and found they were somewhere around 3200 lbs. I have nary a clue what they're talking about on the sticker when I see GWVR 4490. Two tons? I have much to learn. What in blue blazes does that mean?

GVWR is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: it is the maximum allowable weight rating for the vehicle and everything that might be in it: fuel, oil, passengers, luggage, etc. It does not include the weight of a trailer.

GAWR is the Gross Axle Weight Rating: it is them maximum weight allowed to be carried by each axle, this would include the tongue weight of a trailor.

The Curb Weight of a New-Edge GT coupe ranges from 3240 lbs in the early years to 3320 lbs or so in the later ('03/'04) models which had gained a few lbs from added safety stuff steel in the body, soundproofing, etc.

The convertibles weigh another 200 lbs give or take, the '03 and '04 Cobra coupes are 3660 lbs, convertibles also a couple hundred pound heavier.

---------------------------------------------------
Curb Weight is the weight of the vehicle loaded with fuel, and other fluids.

Good to know. Thanks for that breakdown. Where do you find your VIN decoding info? I'd love to do that with mine.
