Default 2004 GT?

Going to go look at a 2004 GT Coupe with 60k tomorrow. From the pictures it looks nearly mint. What are some things to look for? Never owned a Ford or a car been into trucks all my life, looking for a change. I've got an 06 Ram Hemi.

If there's anything yall can think of let me know.

well obviously take it for a spin. see how the transmission shifts and if its a 5 speed look for smooth engagements. listen for any odd ticking or noises, etc. Taking a quick look under the hood is always good too.

start it up. turn it off. then start it up again. this will tell you is the starter and battery are good. and like he said make sure the transmission shifts smoothly.

It is an auto, girlfriend can't drive a stick. So basically just the usual stuff nothing underneath or anything I should pay specific attention to?

And forgot it is the 40th Anniversary edition. There asking 7.5 for it. It looks super clean. What kind of MPG do these things usually get? I can get 16 in my Hemi if I try.

7.5 for 60k miles isnt bad, i bet you could probably talk him down a bit. You could probably get over 20, if youre driving pretty conservatively. I usually get around 17-18 in my car which i think is pretty good

Some things I've noticed with mine when I bought it in July. mind you my car is a 2000.
Look at your body lines. Are they straight?
Where the fenders meet the hood? Door panels? Seals around the windows are in good shape? Hydroboost hoses where they attach to the power steering pump, and the boots at the steering gear.
Visible hardware doesn't look like its been impacted to death?
Sorry for such a long post, mine had less mileage than yours, but found out after the fact that it sat for a while.

Sweet haven't ever seen that kind of mileage. If I make it out there tomorrow I'll try to get a couple pictures.

I was more scared about the insurance than anything being 22. It's actually cheaper than my Ram.

Yea, same for me, and I'm almost double your age. Damn F150 was costing me a fortune in insurance and gas!

For my job right now I'm spending 300+ a month in gas. Was laid off for over a year so had to take what I could get. Caught up now and looking for something different. Like I said should be going up there tomorrow to look at it. Will post back later. And you must have posted as I was typing, just now seen your comment. Only thing that bothers me is the headlights and taillights are smoked. I do A LOT of night driving, I enjoy it the most. Hoping to drive this and keep my truck parked during the week and put back 100+ a month in gas.

Try a different bulb, or change the lens all together. That's an easy fix.
I really don't care for HID's, I use silverstar ultras, they're pretty darn good for night driving. I live on the coast in MS, and some of these roads are pretty freakin dark!
