96 Cobra Overheating My mechanic is stumped
I upgraded my 97 v6 to a 96 Cobra about 6 weeks ago. Ten days ago it overheated and water was pouring out of the radiator cap. The mechanic said the fluid was low and nothing else was notable except there was a LOT of stop leak in the radiator. He added fluid and chargerd me for a service.
I drove it 3 more days including one long trip and one day where I sat idling in a parking lot for an hour with no problems then on the next day the fluid low light blinked on and off a couple times and it started to overheat on a 15 minute drive. I took it back to the shop. He says the fan is good. The head gasket is fine. It was actually NOT low on fluid despite the indicator and it is not leaking water. He changed the thermostat and the radiator cap for which I paid way more than it was worth.
The next day I drove it for about 45 minutes before the fluid light blinked on and the temperature started to creep up. Now so far I have paid a great deal for things that I could easily do myself and the problem is no closer to resolved. Any ideas ya'll have would be greatly appreciated!
