Brakes TOTALLY failed
Hello, I'm new here and tried to search my specific problem, but couldn't find it so now I am opening it up to the forum..
So the last couple of times I drive my 2004, GT 4.6L I felt the car was braking on its own. Like they were engaged and pulling the car to want to stop. I took it in and the jerks at my local Ford did not find the problem, but noticed that the alignment and balance were off so they did that for $180. That was Friday.
Today I'm driving her and I'm on the interstate and the brakes are really burning up. I step on gas and have very little acceleration.
I stop driving and shut her down and poke around, but really can't see anything to the naked eye thats out of place.
Turn it back on start driving and NO BRAKES AT ALL. Push the pedal all the way to the floor and nothing. Luckily I was at my exit so I just continued the 2 miles home, very slowly and used the Emerg. Brake. She's now in my driveway and brake fluid is all good after I checked.
Can anyone give me a possible diagnosis or suggestion of what the heck is going on?
Thanks. Been reading the forum for a while now, but never actually registered and posted anything.

My 2000 was doing this burning the brakes , the front calipers both had a piston seized up in them ... Replaced both calipers , bled and they were good as new.
Just my experience , your situation could be different , maybe a bad master cylinder , or collapsed brake lines ( the rubber ones )

Same here. My 2000 was notorious for the calipers seizing. Replaced front one after it had seized and within a week the other front one seized up. After replacing them I had no issues.
The stealership is a joke. They should have known what the problem is because this is common on the new edges. Of course they would tell you some bs that your alignment was off. I don't understand why people take their cars to the dealers if they're not under warranty.
