If the battery has been charged and load tested and they say it's bad then it probably is. An alternator that has been failing for a while (thus increasing the load on the battery) can make that happen. To answer your question though, I would replace the alternator first and go from there. If the battery is toast and won't hold a charge it won't take too long to find out.

Seems like the $100 from Rock Auto is the way to go. Limited Lifetime warranty where the amazon one is only 1 year.

Got the new alternator. Installed it last night. Today we are testing it. Let's see if I get stuck at work. lol.

I did it today. After two starts that barely turned over the car, it was only a matter of time before the car would strand me somewhere. Replaced it after after work. Car is running great. We will see how it starts tomorrow morning before work.
