04 Auto Speed sensor different than the 01
Hi, first thanks for any advice you might have for me. I have an 04 Mustang GT with an Automatic transmission. Transmission started slipping so I purchased low mileage 01 GT transmission. The Speed sensors are different and have different connections. Is there anything I can do to get this 01 to work in my 04?

Because you have a 2004 Mustang you most likely have a 4R75W transmission. These upgraded versions of the 4R70W were initially introduced in the middle of the 2003 production year. Some 2003 Fords got the 4R70W and some got the 4R75W.
The 4R75W has a unique case that allows for both an Input Shaft Speed Sensor and an Output Shaft Speed Sensor. 4R70Ws only have an Output Shaft Speed Sensor and thus a different case. Both have a Vehicle Speed Sensor.
Your 2004 PCM should be able to communicate without issues with a 4R70W from my understanding but it needs to be flashed to reflect that there is no expectancy of an Input Shaft Speed Sensor.
Understand that you will also technically be downgrading your transmission. The 4R75W has a heat-treated/hardened Planetary Gearset, a more durable Ring gear with more lugs, an upgraded Torque Converter and upgraded Front Pump.
With that being said the 4R70W is still an insanely durable transmission. The 4R75W just makes it that much better.
