Default 04 Auto Spenser different than the 01

Hi, first thanks for any advice you might have for me. I have an 04 Mustang GT with an Automatic transmission. Transmission started slipping so I purchased low mileage 01 GT transmission. The Speed sensors are different and have different connections. Is there anything I can do to get this 01 to work in my 04?

04 is a 4r75, 99-03 is a 4r70. the vss is a totally different design. different lengths and ring teeth count. You may be able to find a tuner to adjust it, but not much information is available in that department

4R75W is an upgraded version of the 4R70W:
4R75W comes form the factory with hardened internal parts; stub shaft, better sun gear.
Also, a stronger ring gear that has 24 lugs, as opposed to 6, for the output shaft sensor (OSS) to
read off of; a new torque converter, a revised front pump assembly, and a vehicle speed sensor
(VSS) that compliments the OSS to improve shift quality and efficiency. This also meant
an upgraded ECU because they added a turbine speed sensor to the transmission. This was
to know the speed of the input shaft after the torque converter which is used in combination with
crankshaft speed to detect any amount of slipping going on in the torque converter.

This information provides PCM with the basis for fully electronic shift scheduling which limits "hunting"
and fine-tunes shift speed and feel. It lets the PCM know what the torque will be in the next gear so it
can choose the shift points based on the vehicle's projected performance in the next gear. Coupled
with the electronic throttle strategy, the transmission computes the output torque required to maintain
the vehicle speed, and chooses the correct gear and converter state accordingly.
However, the different ring gear is the only roadblock to swapping a 4R75W from 47R70W. You
need a SCT tuner for the swap, but all the plugs and bolt ups match. The OSS count will need to
be corrected via SCT (tuner) from 6 to 24 counts.
