Default E brake dash light sometimes not working for convertible

Hey all,

So I have a 1996 Mustang GT Convertible and my e brake light sometimes comes on and sometimes doesn't...I have to sometimes pull it up and put it down over and over and then it will come on eventually. This is a problem especially if I have my top down and then need to get it back up in a hurry. I'm worried it will get stuck down. Anyone know where this sensor is or how I can fix it? I've had my center console off and everything seems to be connected fine. I've tried looking online and can't seem to find anything about this. Thanks guys.

The switch for the e brake should be right by the e brake handle under the center con. it should be adjustable. Sounds to me that it is out of adjust just a bit . It should screw back and forth to adjust. It will have a plugger button on the end of it. If the button dose not go in far enough it wont trip the switch for the light to come on.

Ok I'll take it off again and take a look. Wasn't sure what triggered the switch exactly. Thanks for the reply!

The brake handle it self triggers the switch. When you pull the handle up to set the brake the plunger should come all the way out .....dash brake light should come on.. When you release the brake it should go all the way back in.......dash light should go off.
