Default Fuseable link

I plugged in my battery backwards. I replace the alternator and that seem to work fine for a little while and then my battery light came on. I got it tested and the battery was fine and it happened to be about alternator. I went and got a new alternator and got tested. After driving around for a little while the battery light came back on. I don’t know what to do or what to look for but the batteries losing power and getting really warm. I replace the alternator twice and it still hasn’t fix the problem. I’ve seen people say that it could be a fusible link but I can’t find the fusible link on it. Where is infusible ink and what else could be done to fix the problem?

Fusible links are made of standard copper wire about 4 inches long, with special high temperature insulation on them. They expressly protect the charge system from burn-outs. Early Fox Mustangs had as many as 4 or 6, later models had 4 usually.

They are wired into the harness, so may not be readily seen. Usually located in the bundle of wiring entering the underhood fuse box. In the event of a current overload, a fusible link protects against great damage, often preventing a fire.

For identification, the links are identified by insulation color; this color may be altered by overcurrent, but produces a lumpy-appearing surface on the insulation. A blown link must be replaced with one of identical rating. They must NOT be replaced with standard fuses or plain wire, as they are designed to allow minor short term overcurrent to pass harnlessly, as when starting the engine.
