Default dead battery or alternator

my batter died when i jumped it off the car would die as shortly after i took the cables off. is it possible the battery is so drained that the alternator can't charge the batt and maintain system electrical power?

not too shure about that but an alternator can drain your battery dead, if youve jumped it and had it working, and the battery got drained again, it could be the alternator, try that,
Good Luck!

it is an optima max of six months old. it really has been really hot here latley and it has been unhooked for a fesw weeks so i can see mabe why it drained but i would think the alternator would be able to overcome that. ohwell may just have to take it to autozone to get it tested.
