Has anyone put 4.10's on a supercharged Mustang? Would it be too much gear? I'm already bouncing off the rev limiter in first due to wheel slipage.

I am going with 4:10's with my Automatic GT, I feel this would be the limit for an auto but If I had a N/A Mustang with a Manual I would not hesitate getting 4:10's heck I would consider 4:30's [sm=drooldude.gif]

Putting 4.10s in WILL make it spin easier but that shouldn't deter you. That just means you'll have the ability to launch harder. Now you just need to work on the launch dynamics/suspension to get it to hook better. In a sense, you're friend is right. If you increase the car's horsepower, you can overcome the drag effect on the car and reach the max speed. In that case the 4.10 gears will slow you down. Personally, I have no plans to go that fast.
As far as the negatives for 4.10s, I would say it depends on what you are doing with the car. I'm looking to drag race and show my car. While the gears won't hurt show, a 4.10 would put me past red line with the gearing in my automatic by the time I hit the traps. 3.90s will be as much as I can do and I've even been told 3.73. Keep in mind I'm talking about the automatic transmission. So, in my case, it is the drag racing that limits my gear selection. I want to use as much of the car's power as I can. -Joe

Thats not a gear problem. Thats a tire, and person shifting problem. LOL!

It should actually get a little better milage around town. The stop and go crap is easier on the motor with the higher gears.
Wow...Maybe I was wrong about the '05 section. You guys ask for info, I give it to you, and you say thanks. The 99-04 section, I've had this discussion about gears 1000X's, and the know it all's that have never turned a wrench on their cars argue with me.

Where's everyone purchasing their 4.10's from? Very interested in getting them today, just wanted to see which brand the majority was buying. Is there anything else that needs to be done after putting them in?
