Default RE: Cold Air Induction Installations and Comments...

Greetings from Iraq. While I am deployed, my 07 GT is in storage. The only Mods to my Stang so far is the Flowmaster American Thunder. However, I would like to by mods and have them waiting for me when I return. As far as CAI, there are so many, and I have read most the threads and still cant make up my mind. In your opinion which CAI/Tuner combo will give me the best bang for my buck? Are you aware of any websites that will offer a military discount?

Also, The tuner that will come with the CAI, can I use the same tuner at a later date to make adjustments with consideration to long tube headers or do I need to purchase a separate flash?

Thanx
Rich

Greetings, I have question similar to Daytona GT/CS's question. Recently I installed a roush/airaid cai, and purchased a sct x3 from american muscle. In my special instructions I noted that I wanted a tune that compensated for the removal of the venturi tube. American muscle called me and told me that removing the venturi even with a tune would reduce performance and I was better of leaving the tube in. How can this be? The cai instructions say not to remove the tube without a tune. I thought the tune was for compensating for the increased air flow/lean condition. If I leave the tube in whats the benefit of even having a tune? Man, that phone call confused the **** out of me. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First Dr_BlackStang Thank You For Your Service!! Stay Safe And Keep Up The Good Work!!
I am the Proud Father Of A US Marine Currently In Iraq, Who owns A 06 GT Premium that We are doing mods to while he's Deployed. It's His War Pony!!So Far We Have Done The Steeda CAIwith tuner.Thetune wasdone by Brenspeed, I ordered it and it was pretty much plug and play, it took less than an hour to install and it is the CAI that we can use with his future Super Charger Upgrade (the Saleen 475hp kit). After I installed it the Performance gains where Awesome, We opted for the 92 Octane Tune and it really runs alot better, the throttle response is Crisp and the launch is much better. I am very happy with the purchase the HP & Torque Gains are Noticeable!!

Sooo... what exactly happens if you install a CAI kit and don't get a tune at the same time??? I'm thinking about getting the SCT Livewire, but I'm thinking I should get a CAI first or can that be done seperately? I see this thread hasn't been active in a while? Any suggestions?

Some CAIs you can run w/o a tuner. If you run a CAI that is supposed to be used w/a tuner, then your air/fuel will be off. Your check engine light will come on and your car may stall. Also this could damage your engine. Best bet is to get a CAI/Tune package. If you cant do that then just the get a tuner.

If the MAF housing of the new intake is the same size as the stock one, then it will most likely run without any problems. But if the MAF housing is larger than stock, the engine will run lean.

Hey guys I have a granatelli cold air intake that does not require a tuner. However, someone told me i am not getting the most out of it since it does not require a tune. What tuner can I get to help me with a little boost? What would you guys recommend.

This is a pretty good read for selecting a CAI.
