Gears??Need them or Not
Tried to look this up but the search function works when it wants to. Let me talk a little about how I drive, what my plans are and you guys chime in as to your thoughts on gears helping me.
#1 Mods are in sig
#2 65% hwy driving 35% city
#3 Have no intentions of getting SC
#4 Want to keep drivability if possible with changing gears
#5 Drive my car 75% on weekends 25% during the week (trips to 10 minute store and back during week)
#6 When driving on weekends I am really flying on roads and punkin ricers.
#7 Have no plans or desires to take it to the track
Will gears help me? If so which ones? I hear some say 4.10's are great, I hear some say they suck. Should i just keep them stock?
What do you think???????????????????

RE: Gears??Need them or Not
tough one, only driven on the weekends with no track trips is a set of 4.30s, but then you drive on the highway alot so that would mean 4.10s, your decision, with 4.10s you will loose 2-3 mpg on the highway, with 4.30s you will loose 3-4 if you keep your foot off the floor board. and you will be turning an extra 150ish rpms
how fast do you drive on the highway?

Using 4.10's. Beside noticable increase in MPG and RPM on highway speed (about 2300RPM running 65 MPH) I enjoy the increased torque and overall performance. Throw in a hurst short throw shifter, bassani off-road x pipes with cats, ford mustang gt muffler kit (by borla), and JLT2 CAI (SCT Xcal tuned) and you'll get 38 rwhorses more (at least mine). Good luck! Nice car by the way.

Have 3.73's in my auto trans car.. best bang for the buck IMO..
in the city I get BETTER MPG... honest.. because I am in 4th gear so fast.
ie: bam, bam, bam, bam doing 40MPH.. driving normal.. hit the loud pedal ...MPG goes WAY down..!! lol
