royal purple OK for Mustang tranny?
Greetings,
I'm fairly new here. I have an 06 GT w/manual transmission. About 9,500 miles on her. I am planning on changing my manual tranny fluid and I want to know if Royal Purple is OK to use. I know the owners maunal says use Mercon ATF and RP has two kinds of fluid: Max ATF and Syncromax. I was going to use the Syncromax as that seems to be a better product. Anyone agree or disagree?
Also, where is the fill plug? I can't see it.
Thanks for the help!

Personally, I would just leave it alone. Manual trans fluid does not need changing at 10K miles. And in diffs and transmissions, I have had most luck sticking with factory fluids.
I pulled my hair out for a month with a mopar differential that started making noise after a fluid change. Finally one day I drained and flushed it, and put mopar fluid in. Problem was gone within 10 miles of driving.

So there isn't any need to get rid of any metal shavings that might be present from the break-in period? I though that some poeple with earlier years had good luck with royal purple. I know some cars are very finicky about their gear oils, is the 05-07 mustang GT one of them?
