Default RE: Headers!

Well, I finally got my car dynotuned this afternoon to provide some before and after results for my American Racing Headers w high flow catted X pipe. Before we began the first pull, I told the tuner (Peter of Performance Dyno)) I'd hoped to get just over 300 HP and he immediately replied, "don't get your hopes up to much, the most I've seen on this car (S197) is around 10 HP gains with any long tubes he's ever tested. The stock exhaust manifold is pretty good." The only drive train differences between the first time dynoed on 5/20/06 and today is I've since had 4.10 gears installed. There is one other very important non mechanical difference between tunes I'll mention later. I've posted before and after results here. The bottom line is an increase of 16.7 RWHP and 9.2 RWTQ. I asked Pete what difference running on different days would make and he explained that today's results were adjusted according to SAE and showed me that without correction, the HP number today would actually have been 308 RWHP but that's neither here nor there because Pete doesn't fudge numbers. Since all pulls were performed on the same dyno by the same tuner I feel very confident today's gains are real values. My butt dyno confirms this LOL. The sound on the dyno was outrageous. I wish I'd taped it.
Now here comes the best part. The non mechanical difference I mentioned between 5/20/06 and today's run??? The first tune was done on 93 octane gas with today's run on 87 octane!!! The tuner was in total awe and disbelief. He'd never seen these kind of gains with long tubes before on a NA car nevertheless going from a 93 octane tune to an 87. OUTFREAKINGSTANDING is all I've got to say about these American Racing Headers. Anyone that says real power gains aren't gonna happen with long tube headers doesn't know about this product. I can just imagine what this engine will do when I put a power adder on. The real potential of this exhaust system remains untapped.

One other important thing I forgot to mention is the tuner said I would have seen another 10 RWHP if I'd run on 93 octane gas. In October he's having a dyno day and he invited me back to see for myself. I'll definitely be there!

Anyone have info on JBA Cat4ward Headers http://www.jbaheaders.com/images/pro...s/1675Sbig.jpg Does anyone have them? Gains in HP?

Those are the only headers I know of that are CARB legal.

My bad. Hedman has a shortie set that is also CARB legal.

JBA and Bassani as well as Kooks and a few others are great. I think there is a group buy on american Racing headers going on right now. I have Hooker's with the high temp coating, which are probably the best for the money at <$700.

Is there a group buy on these headers going on right now?? If so, where do I sign up??
