I think they should include the Service Manual DVD with the car... seems like it would prevent a lot of people under/over torquing things if nothing else... They obvisouly know people work on these things (if you have worked on other cars you will appreciate how easy they are to work with - clearly someone thought about it).

Oh well - as with everything else - E-bay is helpful here if annoying, fraud ridden and generally unpleasant...

89 lbs for a valve cover bolt?????? NO WAY
That sounds way way to much torque, for two surfaces with a gasket.

Read inch-pounds not foot-pounds

Thats not even 8ft-lbs.

How about finger tight plus a quarter turn?

Is a torque wrench that difficult to use or is it too expensive to buy a $80 tool to work on your new $25k+ car? Make sure you get your torque specs right guys it makes for a quality install.

+1 even more important with aluminum parts...

You can get away with "metered hands" on some parts of an iron block, but you are asking for pain on this one - most every bolt you touch has torque ratings that seem loose to me and some times I wonder if the whole thing isn't just glued together with lock-tite
