Lets Go Turbo
Sorry, but have you ever driven anything remotely as fast as what 600rwhp will get you? It just seems like you read the article on the Livernois car and you are just dreaming and don't really know what you want because your goals of 11's in the 1/4 and your wishes for hp don't equal out.
my truck has 500hp but thats different, its a mudder, not a racer. I have been in some 450-500hp cars. I want to build myself a fast street/track car and 600 was the number i set for myself. And i havent seen many 450hp cars hit low 11s. Now if I am dreaming, thats what im here for, askin for help in the real world cause ,ost of what I ve seen for the s197 up here in Canada is in mags or tv
It's very possible to run low 11's with 450rwhp in one of these cars, I guess you've never seen 550rwhp run 10.30s at over 130mph in a full weight street car? PowerHouse's shop car has done just that. But in your first post you said 11's not low 11s but either are possible with 450rwhp in a S197.
i can guess why your not running it at a higher boost level, dont want to push a rod through the side of the block. And that is exactally that im trying to prevent too. So i guess my question is im looking for advice on where to go for a turbo. So if the one you have is capable of running at higher levels its would be a good version for me. With my new internals I could turn it up a couple psi and get my 600hp.
riggs,
not trying to be argumentative here by a long stretch but what's the endstate you're looking for?
my eventual goal was 600rwhp potentially (many years down the line) but that's after extensive modification (internals, the block, clutch, transmission). My initial, shorter term goal is a car in the mid 11's at the 1/4mile with some decent suspension modifications. the rest can come later.
with a turbo like the one 1QB is referring to, you can hit 11's at 450-ish rwhp and do quite a bit (driver dependant obviously, lol!). taking it past that point will require all of the mods u initially mentioned for safety, and on the PH turbo, the hellion turbo as well, u can reach 600rwhp with the stock system, assuming you are willing to take the risk.....even if you get forged internals, build up the block, there are still some significant risks.
to do all of that in one sitting to hit that hp safely, you're gonna be spending a ton. so, what's your budget? that might definitely help define your goals a bit more clearly and then the guys here who are very knowledgeable can give u the advice you're looking for.

Buget wise its not a problem. I want to get most of the parts done by June 07, cause up here she parked/trailer queen from oct till then. Basically im trying to make the highest hp without having to worry about blowing the motor. Like i said there aren't alot of places to see a S197 built like i want, where I live so, I get my ideas from tv and mags. Since mine isnt/wont be a daily driver I can go with alittle more hp. The thing i cant decide is s/c or turbo. Since more of a drag style car i was leaning toward turbo.
